Welcome
Life events such as bereavement, or loss of a job can lead us to feeling "stuck", "confused", "scared" or "isolated". We may not want to burden our loved ones or we may feel unable to disclose personal issues. In that case "Counselling" can offer a safe, confidential space where a client can explore difficulties, consider possible options as well as helping you find coping strategies on both emotional and practical levels.

Learn More About Me
I qualified as a counsellor in 2004 and am a member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy. Apart from The Retreat, I am also a counsellor at a hospice as well as working in the field of drug and alcohol misuse.
I draw on several models of counselling underpinning this is a person centred model. This means I put the clients needs at the heart of everything I do. My belief is that everyone has the potential of finding their own way through difficult times and painful experiences, when given the appropriate support, where they feel safe and accepted for who they are and what they feel.

Areas of Counselling
Life has a habit of throwing difficulties in our path, which often evolves in an emotional, biological or physical response. As a counsellor I specialise in supporting clients through issues of bereavement, life changes, low self-esteem, stress, anxiety, addictions and depression. My belief is that through the counselling relationship the client will be able to process the event to a degree of acceptance and thus be able to transfer these skills if and when another challenge arises.

The Retreat offers adult and children's counselling. Sessions are available via face to face, telephone or on-line. On-line counselling is a great way of accessing therapy for clients who do not live in the area, or have limited access to transport.

The Retreat also offers couple counselling, face to face as well as on-line, which may benefit clients who find it difficult to schedule a session where they can both be available.
